UDHAMPUR, Mar 28
The district-level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) committee today reviewed drug control measures in Udhampur district, here at a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia. The meeting aimed to assess the implementation of previous directives and devise strategies to combat drug abuse and illicit narcotics trade in the district.
District Information Officer Rajinder Kumar Digra; District Social Welfare Officer Kanika Gupta; CMO Dr. Anil Manhas; Medical Superintendent and other key officers attended the meeting.
Detailed discussions were held on multiple facets, including tackling drug addiction cases, identifying and apprehending individuals involved in illegal drug trafficking, combating unlawful cannabis cultivation, rehabilitation of youth struggling with addiction, pinpointing drug abuse hotspots, and reviewing ongoing district-wide initiatives.
The ADC urged the concerned officers to compile comprehensive action taken reports on previous directives. He further emphasized on installation of CCTV cameras at medical shops.
In remote areas where CCTV installation is unfeasible, the enforcement departments were asked to take undertaking from medical shop owners confirming the non-sale of psychotropic drugs. The ETO was directed to conduct raids and seize illicit drugs, while also establishing a sleeper cell for intelligence gathering.
Officers were also instructed to conduct sensitization programs on perils of drug abuse across all blocks of the district.
