One Day awareness programme organised by Civil Defence, Jammu

One-day awareness program focusing on First Aid, CPR, Choking, Fire Fighting, and other emergency rescue methods was conducted at Govt. Women College, Parade Ground, Jammu. The event saw active participation from 70 NSS students, NCC cadets, and students enrolled in the designer course at the college. Spearheaded by Dy. SP Anita Pawar, Deputy Controller of Civil Defence, Jammu, the program aimed to equip attendees with essential knowledge and skills to respond effectively during natural or man-made disasters.
Under the guidance of Dy. SP Anita Pawar, Civil Defence experts conducted demonstrations to impart basic knowledge on various emergency response techniques.
The interactive sessions provided participants with practical insights into administering First Aid, performing CPR, managing choking incidents, and combating fires. Through hands-on demonstrations, students and staff members gained valuable insights into preventive measures crucial for mitigating the impact of disasters.
As part of the program, Dy. SP Anita Pawar delivered a comprehensive lecture on Disaster Management, shedding light on key principles and strategies for effective disaster preparedness and response. She also underscored the pivotal role of Civil Defence in organizing and coordinating emergency response efforts during crises. Dr. Ravinder Kumar Tikoo, the Principal of the College, commended the efforts of Civil Defence in raising awareness about disaster management and rescue operations among students and faculty.
The event also witnessed the presence of prominent figures such as Sh. Paramjit Kumar, Chief Warden of Civil Defence, Jammu, and Sh. R. Vijay Magotra, Deputy Chief Warden of Civil Defence, Jammu. Their participation underscored the collaborative efforts between Civil Defence authorities and educational institutions in fostering a culture of safety and preparedness within the community.
Dr. Gurpreet Kour, NSS coordinator, along with other staff members of the College, actively contributed to the success of the awareness program. Their dedication and support played a vital role in facilitating a conducive learning environment for participants.
Overall, the one-day awareness program served as a platform for empowering students and staff members with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to emergencies. By fostering collaboration between educational institutions and Civil Defence authorities, the initiative aimed to enhance community resilience and ensure the safety and well-being of all stakeholders.
