A significant campaign against the drug menace was carried out by Range Police Headquarters Jammu on 20.03.2024 at Rajiv Nagar, Jammu, as part of the Civic Action Program under the command of DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Jammu, Dr. Sunil Gupta-IPS, and under the overall supervision of Staff Officer to DIG Jammu, Sh. Rajinder Singh Katoch, SSP. This ambitious drug awareness campaign aimed at creating a drug-free community through a Nukad Natak performance by a team from Nav Durga Kala Manch, led by Shazi Khan.
The program commenced with a warm welcome extended to the Chief guest, Sh. Vinod Kumar-IPS SSP Jammu, and the guest of honor, SO to DIG Jammu, Sh. Rajinder Singh Katoch SSP, SP South Jammu, Sh. Ajay Sharma, SDPO East, Sh. Sheezan Bhat, SHO Bahu Fort, Insp. Amit Kumar, and ICPP Narwal, SI Sanjeev Sharma.
During the event, Chief Guest Sh. Vinod Kumar addressed the media, emphasizing that drug abuse has become a common habit among youth, particularly in the age group of 15 to 35 years. He underscored the destructive nature of drug addiction and urged individuals to steer clear of drugs, as well as to guide others away from them. Additionally, he issued a warning to drug peddlers, vowing strict legal action against them.
Dr. Gulnaz Choudhary from the Police Drugs De-Addiction Centre, Jammu, delivered a compelling speech on the detrimental effects of drugs, particularly focusing on synthetic drugs. She stressed the importance of sensitizing youth across all sections of society about drug abuse.
Members of the general public and civil society present at the program expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Jammu & Kashmir Police for organizing such impactful events.
The Nukad Natak team was awarded a cash prize by RPHQ Jammu for their outstanding performance highlighting the dangers of drug abuse. ASI Tarsem Lal, Sgct Sudesh Sharma, and SgCt Narinder Sharma from RPHQ Jammu were also present at the venue to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
