The Department of National Security Studies (NSS), Central University of Jammu (CUJ), under the patronage of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, organised Thursday Mind Meet on the theme “Defence Indigenization and Vision Viksit Bharat @2047”. Thursday Mind Meet is a weekly program of Central University of Jammu to promote learning and critical thinking through interactive discussions, knowledge-sharing, and interdisciplinary approach.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Head, Department of NSS and Co-Convenor of the program. Prof. Vandana Sharma, Convenor of the program delivered special remarks.
Lt. Col. (Dr.) Adarsh Sharma (Retd.) was the keynote speaker for today’s event. There were four panellists from the Department namely Ms. Abhigya Langeh and Mr. Shubham Singh Charak, Col. Ravi Ji Raina and Ms. Soosan Sara Baby. Lt. Col. Sharma delivered an enlightening lecture on Defence Indigenization and Vision Viksit Bharat @2047. He emphasized on the principles of self-reliance, self-sufficiency, and defence indigenization, seeing their significance in addressing the evolving needs of national security. The speaker highlighted the significance of defence indigenization in safeguarding national interest. The speaker stressed on the crucial importance of promoting defence indigenization and collaboration between academia and young individuals to stimulate economic growth and shape India’s future as a global leader. The panellists highlighted several crucial points on defence indigenization, including the role of women, modernization of the navy, and the relevance of Make in India.
The Q&A segment of the session initiated interaction among faculty, scholars, and students from various departments. Dr. R. Sudhakar, an Associate Professor, and Dr. Ekta Manhas, an Assistant Professor, coordinated the event. Dr. Sudhakar delivered a Vote of Thanks. Dr. Neeta Rani, Associate Professor and Dr. Anuradha Chaudhary, Assistant Professor, organized the event. Ms. Akriti Uppal proficiently handled the event as the emcee.
