Annual Sports Meet COMBATICA’s Award Ceremony at Central University of Jammu

The Directorate of Physical Education, Central University of Jammu hosted the awards ceremony for Annual Sports Meet COMBATICA, held from 29th October, 2023-1st November, 2023. The highly anticipated awards ceremony, held on March 20, 2024, commemorated the exceptional achievements and spirited performances of athletes from across the university.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Shakti Kumar Pathak (IPS), Director, Anti-Corruption Bureau (J&K), as the Chief Guest. He emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of sportsmanship and inclusivity, where every individual is empowered to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to the sporting community. He urges the youth to embrace the principles of fair play, teamwork, and resilience both on and off the field.
Prof. Sanjeev Jain, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, commended the efforts of the sports team for their outstanding organization and execution of COMBATICA 2023. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to all participants for their dedication and exemplary performances, underscoring the invaluable role of sports in promoting holistic development and fostering a sense of community within the university.
During the event, Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar & Director, Directorate of Physical Education, provided an overview of COMBATICA 2023, detailing the wide array of individual and team sports that were featured. A total of 21 different sports, including Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Badminton, Marathon, and various track and field events, were played, showcasing the diverse talents and interests of participants. The spirited participation of female athletes added to the excitement of the event, reflecting the university’s commitment to gender inclusivity and empowerment in sports.
Their enthusiasm and dedication were evident in every competition, showcasing the growing presence of women in sports and their ability to excel in various disciplines.
In total, the sports meet witnessed a remarkable display of athleticism, resulting in a total of 187 Gold, 182 Silver, and 29 Bronze medals awarded to deserving winners across different categories.
In Cricket, the Department of HRM and OB emerged victorious among the boys, while the Department of Educational Studies claimed the prize among the girls, demonstrating their prowess and teamwork on the field. In Basketball, the BTech (Cyber Security) team secured the top position among the boys, while the Department of Physics showcased their skills and determination to win among the girls. In Kho Kho, Btech (CSE) from the boys’ category and the Department of Physics from the girls’ category emerge as champions, displaying agility, strategy, and teamwork in their respective matches. Tug of War witnessed an impressive display of strength and unity, with the Department of Chemistry clinching the first prize among the boys and the Department of Economics emerging victorious among the girls.
The overall trophy for the event is won by the Department of Educational Studies with a total of 23 prizes. As the university community reflects on the achievements and memories of COMBATICA 2023, it looks forward to continued success and camaraderie in future sporting endeavours. Dr. Sudhakar, Assistant Director, Directorate of Physical Education, extended a formal vote of thanks, acknowledging their collective efforts in making COMBATICA a resounding success.

The collective efforts of Director, Prof Yashwant Singh and all the Assistant Directors, Dr. Shaveta Kohli, Dr. R Sudhakar, Dr. Neerendra Kumar, Dr. Sanjay Kumar and Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh reflect the spirit of collaboration and excellence that defines our university community.
