Several join Congress, leaving BJP, fed with false guarantees: Tony

Taranjit Singh Tony, General Secretary of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee and DDC Suchetgarh sought support of general public in ousting of BJP government from the power in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. His statement comes amidst the political landscape’s evolving dynamics and the growing aspirations of the general public for a change in leadership.
Speaking at the joining programme here today, Tony reiterated the importance of the collective effort of the common people in shaping the destiny of the nation. He stated, “The power to bring about change lies in the hands of the people. It is the common citizens who have the ability to shape the political landscape by exercising their democratic rights. We, as the Congress Party, stand together with the common people in their fight for justice, equality, and progress.”
Tony asserted that the BJP Govt has completely failed to live up to the expectations of the people. The youth are facing unemployment, and inflation continues to rise. The Bharatiya Janata Party has always engaged in politics based on religion and regionalism. He emphasized that the time has come to remove the BJP from power and for the Congress party to come to power to work for the welfare of the people. Tony further highlighted the need for unity and collaboration among various sections of society to challenge the ruling party’s policies. He urged citizens to actively engage in constructive discussions, peaceful protests, and democratic processes to voice their concerns and push for a better future. As a senior Congress leader, he pledged the party’s support to the common people in their endeavor to remove the BJP from power and work towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
He affirmed that the Indian National Congress and its supporters remain committed to safeguarding the interests of the common people and ensuring a government that is responsive, accountable, and dedicated to the welfare of all its citizens.
Earlier, large number of people, leaving behind other political parties, joined the Congress under the leadership of Taranjit Singh Tony in a program held at Rangpur Saddharian village in RS Pura constituency. Among those who joined the Congress party were former Inspector Mahendra Lal, who was associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ravi Kumar, Satpal, Kuldeep Raj, Ramesh Chandra, and former Panch Lekhraj, along with several others.
Extending a warm welcome to newly joined members, Tony stated that with the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections, the trend of people joining the Congress party has begun, and it is hoped that the Congress party will emerge victorious on all seats in Jammu and Kashmir and lead the country once again.
He also highlighted the presence of Ajay Kumar, retired Zonal Officer Ramesh Chandra, Hukumat Raj, and Bishan Das Bhagat, among other party activists, on this occasion.
