Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) celebrated the Birthday Anniversary of Manywar Kanshi Ram at Party headquarters in Satwari, Jammu. Raja Ram, Ex-MP and Coordinator J&K, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Darshan Rana, President BSP J&K, presided over the function. The venue was adorned with blue-colored flags and hoardings depicting the life struggles of great saints and gurus of the downtrodden society.
The festivities commenced with the traditional lighting of a candle lamp in front of Kanshi Ram’s portrait, followed by the rendition of traditional songs by missionary activist Ex-MP. Raja Ram delivered a speech shedding light on the life and mission of Kanshi Ram. He highlighted Kanshi Ram’s humble beginnings in a poor family in 1934, and his eventual rise to become a Messiah for the downtrodden peoples of India.
Kanshi Ram recognized the ongoing plight of the Indian masses despite the country’s independence. He concluded that the rights enshrined in the Indian constitution by Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar were deliberately not implemented, as the constitution fell into the hands of the privileged who perpetuated casteism. Kanshi Ram resolved to devise a strategy to uplift the common man by utilizing their voting power to capture political power, thus breaking the shackles of their suffering.
The success of Kanshi Ram’s formula was evident as the BSP captured the government of Uttar Pradesh four times. This movement has now evolved into a national cause led by Mayawati, the National President of BSP. Darshan Rana expressed gratitude to everyone for their participation and for paying homage to Sahib Kanshi Ram. He reiterated Kanshi Ram’s quote, “we will not stop until we unite the victims of the system and overthrow the spirit of inequality in our country.”
The gathering was urged to emulate the footsteps of Baba Sahib B.R. Ambedkar and consider Kanshi Ram’s leadership as their ultimate goal. Several leaders spoke during the occasion, including Senior Leader CharanJeet Chargotra, General Secretary Shashi Bushan Thapa, Gubaksh Gourav, Jagadish Verma, Raja Singh, Raman Kumar, Sardari Lal, Baldev Raj, Kartar Gandhi, Ranjeet Singh, Kuldeep Chalotra, Suresh Kumar, Bishan Dass Bhagat, and others.
