GCOE celebrates International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was celebrated by Women Development Cell and NSS Unit, Government College of Education, Jammu in collaboration with Sahitya Academy, New Delhi . A symposium in Dogri was organized on ”Contemporary issues and challenges of Women’s writing in Dogri”. The programme started with the lighting of lamp and Saraswati vandana. The welcome address was presented by Prof. Deepali Devi convenor Women Development Cell and introductory remarks were presented by Padam Shree Sh. Mohan Singh, Convenor, Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Academy , New Delhi and President, Duggar Manch. The keynote was addressed by an eminent dogri writer, Dr. Sushma Rani. She highlighted the contributions of various Female writers in Dogri literature. The event was graced by various other prominent dogri writers presented their thoughts on the topic highlighting the theme of International Women’s Day- “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”.
Prof. Satish Kumar Sharma, officiating Principal of GCOE Jammu was the Chief Guest of the event. He shared his words of wisdom on the importance of girl education and how women are leading the world today. Presidential Address was presented by Dr. Sucheta Pathania, Head, Department of Different Languages Jammu University. The event was managed in four sessions distinguished
In the first session, Dr. Neelam Sarin was the Distinguished Chair and papers were presented by Smt Nirmal, Vikram and Dr. Radha Rani. In the second session, Dr. Usha kiran held the distinguished chair and papers were presented by Smt. Savtanterta Mehra and Dr. Sushma Choudhary, Prof. Shalini Rana, Member, advisory board, Sahitya Academy, New Delhi presented the Vote of thanks. On the occasion were present Prof. Seema Kotwal, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Dr. Ambica Sharma, Prof. Roopa Kumari, Prof. Kiran Thapa, Dr. Suraj Prakash, Dr.Balwan Singh Prof. Ramandeep Kralia , Dr. Davinder Kour, Dr. Rakesh Bharti, Prof. Chanchal Singh. The student organizers were Shivani sharma , Aayushvi Sharma, Bhavna Choudhary, Anjali Sharma , Neha Bashal, Shivani sharma, , Gaurav, Palvi Manhas,Tazeeba Akhter.
