As per the instructions of District Election Officer Rajouri, Om Parkash Bhagat, the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) Cell, in collaboration with the NSS (National Service Scheme) Unit of Government Degree College Thannamandi, orchestrated a comprehensive Awareness Program here onthe College Campus. Themed “Importance of Vote in Democratic Setup,” the event epitomized the college’s commitment to nurturing informed and responsible citizens.
Kicking off the day’s activities, students embarked on an educational excursion to the local nursery, immersing themselves in hands-on learning about plant life and ecological sustainability.
The early morning visit not only enriched their understanding of environmental conservation but also served as a precursor to the college’s subsequent plantation drive.
Following the visit, students spearheaded a vigorous door-to-door campaign aimed at raising voter awareness within the community. Armed with knowledge and conviction, they engaged residents in meaningful conversations about the importance of active participation in electoral processes, thereby igniting a grassroots movement for civic responsibility.
Dr. Khalid Rayaz, in his welcome address, underscored the dual focus of the day’s endeavors: promoting voter awareness and fostering environmental stewardship. Prof. Mohd Iqbal Raina, District Nodal Officer of SVEEP Rajouri, delivered an impassioned talk on the pivotal role of voting in safeguarding democratic ideals, while Principal Prof. Farooq Ahmed expounded on the responsibilities of citizenship and the power of collective action.

Participants enthusiastically planted trees, signaling their commitment to preserving and enhancing the natural environment.
