In a significant development for the residents of Kathua, Col Mahan Singh (Retd) District Development Council (DDC) Chairman, Kathua, today inaugurated two vital road projects in Tehsil Mahanpur under the Public Works Department (PWD) division Billawar.
Fulfilling the longstanding demands of the locals, the DDC Chairman initiated the widening and improvement works spanning 12 kilometers from Chitta Morh to Poonda, on the Mahanpur-Basohli road section. This project, valued at over 5 crores, falls under the City and Town project, benefiting numerous communities including daily commuters and thousands of vehicles plying everyday on this narrow road section. Among the dignitaries present were Tejinder Goldi, DDC Member, Sonu Gupta, Er. Kuldeep Verma, Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Division Billawar, Jagmohan Singh, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Billawar Sub-division along with Sarpanch Dhamlar Sher Singh, Sarpanch Sonu Gupta Mahanpur and Sarpanch Chunera Darshan Kohli, and others including officials.
Additionally, another 3 Kilometres crucial project worth 5 Crores was inaugurated under the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) road initiative, connecting Banhore to Raipur via Bari Pathak in Dambra East Panchayat. The project will benefit around 10000 population and is likely to be completed within 18 months time. The warm reception included garlands, enthusiastic slogans, and the rhythmic beating of drums, welcoming the DDC Chairman to the site.
Addressing the media, Col Mahan Singh lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for implementing the three-tier system in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized how this system has fortified rural areas across the Union Territory, paving the way for comprehensive development initiatives.
A public meeting with residents of Banhore, Bari Pathak, Upper Mahanpur, Kaliar and Raipur habitations was also held on the occasion, where in residents applauded and called the event an historic in the developmental interest of these far-flung areas.
The DDC Chairman also listened to the problems of participants and assured resolution of all possible issues raised by them. A Langar was also organized by local residents on the occasion.
