District Advisory Committee reviews implementation of PC&PNDT Act in Udhampur

Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, on Friday chaired the District Advisory Committee meeting to evaluate the implementation of the PC&PNDT Act and the Clinical Establ-ishment Registration & Regulation Act, 2010.
The meeting was held in the Mini Conference Hall, DC Office Complex.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Ghan Sham Singh, DIO Udhampur Rajinder Kumar Digra and other officers besides District Advisory Committee members.
At the outset, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anil Manhas delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the current operational status of ultrasound clinics in the district. Dr. Manhas briefed the chair about the clinic registration process, norms, and procedures for cancellation in cases of misuse, emphasizing the need to improve the sex ratio in the district, which is below the national average. After thorough discussion, the DC directed the concerned authorities to conduct surprise inspections of these centers to prevent illegal practices of sex determination and female foeticide. The CMO was tasked with organizing awareness and sensitization sessions/camps at the block level, in collaboration with BMOs, to educate people on women-related issues. Additionally, the DC instructed the CMO to conduct special camps in Anganwadi Centers on Nourishment Day to address women’s health-related issues.
Necessary measures for strict and robust monitoring of drug de-addiction centers to prevent misuse for spreading drug addiction were also emphasized. The DC sought active support from NGOs to sensitize the public on various issues and assist in spreading various initiatives of the District Administration.
The CMO was instructed to grant provisional registration to clinical establishments upon fulfilling necessary formalities. CMO was further tasked with conducting inspections of both registered and unregistered clinical establishments and imposing fines and penalties on any defaulters as outlined in the Clinical Establishment Act.
