Introduces Night Sweeping Machines on 78 designated routes

In an effort to achieve a higher ranking in cleanliness surveys, the Jammu Municipal Corporation is continuously striving to enhance the city’s sanitation infrastructure. As part of this initiative, four night sweeping machines have been procured at a cost of 10 crore rupees, which have already commenced cleaning operations on 78 designated routes.
These machines will cover a total distance of 210 kilometers in Jammu and ensure that the litter and debris on the roads are cleared during the night. One advantage of this initiative is that it will reduce the manual sweeping work on main roads, allowing sanitation workers to focus more on cleanliness in wards.
The operation and maintenance of these night sweeping machines were contracted on September 26th last year. As per senior officials of the Municipal Corporation, each machine can cover a distance of up to 50 kilometers on a daily basis. Therefore, a roster has been created for the 210-kilometer route.
Mainly, bridges, flyovers, Palloura Chowk, Janipur, Muthi, Bantalab, and the airport will be included in the cleaning drive. The Municipal Corporation already possesses two machines that are being used for cleaning BC Road, Airport Road, flyovers, Old Market, Chinny, Jullundhar, and Dogra Chowk.
Rahul Yadav, Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation, stated that efforts are being made to improve the city’s sanitation system. He underscored the significance of these efforts, highlighting their alignment with the visionary goals of Prime Minister Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission.
Yadav said that the Jammu Municipal Corporation is committed to realizing the vision of a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable city.
