SAMBA, FEBRUARY 20: The National Service Scheme Unit ‘Prabha’ of Government Degree College Ramgarh conducted cleanliness and plantation drives in the college campus here today as part of 7 day Winter Camp activity. The drives were conducted under the guidance and leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, the Principal of the College.
Speaking on the occasion, she emphasized the importance of cleanliness and clean surroundings. She said that an institution of higher education must impart the knowledge regarding cleanliness, safe environment, hygiene, extension work, open classrooms, Shramdaan, beautification, awareness campaigns, sports, plantation drives, and the health of stakeholders, to the students in particular and the society in general through these activities and extension works.
Regarding the plantation drive, she said that tree plantation is not just something that should be done; instead, it is a necessity, the urgent need of the hour. Planting trees is especially important to protect our environment against air pollution and global warming.
Prof. Brahm Dutt Sharma, the NSS Programme Officer, motivated the NSS volunteers to participate in such activities with zeal and enthusiasm. He encouraged them to plant more and more trees and plants for environmental conservation and sustainability. He also briefed the volunteers regarding the importance of cleanliness and encouraged them to always keep the surroundings clean.
He said that these activities provided a great opportunity for the College to perform its social responsibilities for the society at large.
A large number of NSS volunteers participated in the cleanliness and plantation drives in the premises of the College.
