Addressing a longstanding concern for the residents of Farnot and surrounding villages, Col Mahan Singh (Retd), Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC) Kathua, initiated the commencement of a vital road construction project. The endeavor aims to address connectivity challenges faced by over 30,000 individuals residing in areas affected by the construction of the Ranjit Sagar Dam (RSD) reservoir in the 1990s.
The project, encompassing the construction of a 5.2-kilometer road under Phase III of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) at a cost of Rs 5.39 Crores, is poised to significantly enhance accessibility for local inhabitants. Scheduled for completion within the next year, the initiative heralds a new era of connectivity and development for the region.
During the project’s inauguration, Col Mahan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr. Jitendra Singh, and the BJP Government for their unwavering commitment to fulfilling public aspirations in isolated regions. He underscored the transformative impact of improved road connectivity, envisioning a future where migration is curtailed, living standards are elevated, and economic prosperity is revitalized.
The upcoming road is poised to facilitate access to the revered religious Shrine of Baba Rajamandlik at Baleta near village Farnot, further enhancing cultural and spiritual significance for local residents. The initiative garnered widespread acclaim from the community, who commended the dedication of the BJP Government and local representatives, including DDC Chairman Colonel Mahan Singh, in addressing their longstanding grievances.
