Col Mahan Singh (Retd), DDC Chairman of Kathua, today inaugurated the commencement of construction work on the 6-kilometer-long Sheetal Nagar (Gadodi) to Kote road under the esteemed Project NABARD. This momentous initiative aims to address the longstanding demand for enhanced road connectivity among the vast population residing in the Basohli and Bani Region. The project is poised to exponentially elevate religious and adventure tourism, particularly in the revered Jodian Wali Mata and Daulah Mata hilly regions.
The event witnessed the gracious presence of notable dignitaries including Er Bharat Gupta, Executive Engineer PWD Division, AEE PWD (R&B) Bani, Thakur Darshan Singh, Ashok Purohit, Capt Harnam Singh, Pardeep Kumar, Chando Ram, alongside a large contingent of local residents hailing from Kote, Nooni, Bhoond, Gadodi, Patagar, Danna & Janu villages. Notably, the event garnered enthusiastic participation from women and youth, accentuating the community’s unified support towards the project.
Col Mahan was warmly welcomed amidst resounding cheers and slogans by the spirited villagers.
Addressing the gathering, Col Mahan underscored the critical importance of establishing this vital road link, emphasizing its significance in facilitating the seamless pilgrimage to the revered shrine of Shree Sheetla Mata at Jodian. He emphasized the arduous nature of the existing 16-kilometer trek from Sheetal Nagar to Jodian and emphasized how the new road infrastructure will ease the journey for devotees and enhance the transportation of essential commodities and provisions.
The DDC Chairman extended heartfelt gratitude to the Modi Government, LG Manoj Sinha, and particularly Dr. Jitendra Singh, MP, and Central Minister of State PMO, Sc. & Technology, and Space for their unwavering support towards realizing this transformative project. He also acknowledged the pivotal role played by Reeta Thakur, DDC Member Bani, in conceptualizing and executing this commendable initiative.
