The Commissioner Secretary (Cooperative Department) of Jammu and Kashmir UT, Babila Rakwal visited the Head Office of Citizens’ Cooperative Bank and Jammu Central Cooperative Bank to assess the operational efficiency and systems, financial strength and contributions in promoting financial inclusion and cooperative values. During the visit to the Citizen’s Cooperative bank, the Commissioner Secretary was welcomed by Managing Director Ravi Kant and staff of the Bank. Accompanied with the Joint Registrar (Banking and Finance) Rakesh Kumar Dubey and Dy. Registrar Bhumika Sharma, she met with the Chairman Parveen Sharma and other members of the Board of the Citizens’ Cooperative Bank and discussed the bank’s ongoing initiatives and strategies for enhancing financial services for its customers who are mostly from the undeserved and unserved sections of the society. She praised the bank’s commitment to foster economic growth through cooperative principles.
“I appreciate the way the Citizens’ Cooperative Bank in spite of so many constraints is providing the services to its clients at par with any other nationalized or private sector bank. The main aim of the bank, however, should remain aligned with the principles of economic growth through cooperation. The bank should further strengthen itself financially also to safeguard the interests of the large number of shareholders of the bank”, stated Babila Rakwal.
Citizens’ Cooperative Bank Ltd. is the largest and oldest Urban Cooperative Bank of Jammu and has been at the forefront of empowering individuals and businesses through its cooperative banking model, facilitating financial literacy programs, and offering tailor made banking solutions to cater to the diverse needs of its clients since 1978.
Sh Parveen Kumar Sharma expressed gratitude for the Commissioner Secretary’s visit and emphasized the bank’s unwavering commitment to serve the community. “We are honored by the Commissioner Secretary’s visit and guidance she provided in mitigating the various constraints being faced by the Bank. We as a Board shall ever remain dedicated to fostering economic prosperity and financial well-being of our members,” said Parveen Sharma, Chairman of the Bank.
Babila Rakwal also took the section wise tour in the Head Office and assessed the working and systems, besides showing her concern for the capacity building of the human assets of the bank so that they are able to handle the banking activities efficiently in times to come. She also promised her full cooperation in resolving various pending issues at the Department’s end and also ensured to work with full zeal during her tenure for uplifting the sector to the newer heights.
The members of the Board present on the occasion were Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Sumant Singh Jamwal, and Varinder Singh Jamwal besides Ravi Kant, Managing Director of the Bank.
Thereafter, the Commissioner Secretary Babila Rakwal also paid her visit to the Head Quarters of Jammu Central Cooperative Bank where she was welcomed by the Administrator of the Bank Rakesh Kumar Dubey and Managing Director Sultan Mirza. She also visited each section of the office and interacting with the staff advised them to work diligently and efficiently for uplifting the institution.
