Irrigation canal in Bishnah looks like a garbage dumping Nallah: Ganesh

A protest demonstration led by Shiv Sena Hindustan Youth Wing President Ganesh Choudhary held today in Bishnah for the desilting and maintenance of water canals and Nullahs to avoid any epidemic and flood-like situation in case of excessive rains.The demonstrators said that they had faced huge losses during the previous monsoon season and were not compensated yet, they further said that their crops were submerged last year following indecorous maintenance of water channels and any such situation again would worsen their financial condition.They alleged that the officials of the irrigation department were not taking proper measures for the desilting of irrigation channels in the area and warned to widen their scope of protest if the officials continued with their lethargic attitude.
Speaking on the occasion, Ganesh said that the real situation can be seen anywhere in the irrigation canals in the area. The department seems to be taking the advantage of other important events and is trying to befool the government and the farmers. Most of the canal area has not even been touched by the department and the silt and garbage are still lying in it. If one go through the picturesque of canal, there can be seen large heaps of garbage, silt, broken trees, polythene carry bags while other wastage, which has reduced the width and depth of canal to half of its actual size, added Ganesh.
Ganesh further said that irrigation canal which provides irrigation facility to hundreds of acres of agriculture land of several villages of Bishnah, but every year the farmers of tail end villages lodges their protest against the authorities as the water of canal does not reach to their fields. It is only due to the reason that the irrigation department due to no de-silting the canal properly. Ganesh Chaudhary said that if water does not reach the farmers then how they will grow crops. How will farmers be able to support their family which is their only support. He said that in such a situation the farmers will be on the verge of starvation, but the department is turning a blind eye. He said that we have informed the Irrigation Department many times, but no official of the department is paying attention to this filth.
Ganesh Chaudhary said that we warn the Irrigation Department that if the canal is not cleaned as soon as possible, then in the coming days, Shiv Sena Hindustan activists will protest on the streets against the Irrigation Department, the responsibility of which will be on the Irrigation Department. Wing Sunita Devi, Arnia Block President, Women Wing Suman Devi and others.
