JAMMU, Jan 25
Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit has demanded appointment of staff at the local level along with free travel for women and Sr. Citizens in the e-buses operating on the roads of Jammu and Kashmir under the Smart City Project.
In a press conference organized at the party state office today, state chief Manish Sahni welcomed the flagging off of e-buses in Jammu by Union Home Minister Amit Shah through virtual mode today.
Sahni said that
Under the Smart City Project, Tata Motors has been entrusted with the responsibility of supplying and operating 100 electric buses each in Jammu and Srinagar for 12 years.
Sahni said that this is a welcome step to stop the increasing deadly pollution in Jammu and Kashmir, but the operation of these buses is sure to cause financial loss to the owners of mini buses plying on the roads of Jammu for decades and the clouds of unemployment are looming over the drivers.
Sahni said that we are not against development and technology but we do not accept sacrificing the interests and rights of the local people for this.
Sahni has demanded from the Jammu and Kashmir administration to ensure free travel for women and elderly people along with appointments to local people in Tata Motors e-buses. On this occasion president mehila wing Meenakshi Chhibber, Gen Secretary Vikas Bakshi, vice president Sanjeev Kohli were present.
