DOGRA HERALD BUREAU
jammu Jan 19
State unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) here by refutes the tall claims of present Govt in J&K regarding welfare of weaker sections i.e SC/ST/OBC/Minorities. We have been continuously raising the various issues to ensure constitutional rights to all sections of society in J&K but the Govt is making hollow claims. Nothing has happened on the ground. In a handout BSP State president Darshan Rana and State Vice President Charanjeet Chargotra Demanded the
Reservation in Promotion to Reserved categories not restored even after Hon’ble Supreme Court’s direction.
Mandal Commission not implemented in J&K since 1993 for which there has been continuous agitation by OBC people.
It was contested in the Parliament in 2019 that the formation of UT shall grant justice to OBC people but even after five years of UT, the issue is pending as such.
Enhancement of Reservation of OBCs from 4% to 27% is pending since 1993 and till date, Govt has changed nomenclature only. It was pointed out in Parliament by Hon’ble MP, Sh Rajaram of our party as per the directions of party Supremo Behan Mayawati and even outside also that OBC people of J&K are the worst sufferers. How the Govt can claim Good Governance.
Reservation to OBCs in Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj announced but quantum not mentioned.
This is only a political game equivalent to playing the OBC card to win the elections. There is yet no amendment in the Municipal Act, and tall claims are being flashed everyday. Deferment of Panchayati and ULB elections on the pretext of OBCs reservation is nothing but diversion of public attention from internal weaknesses of BUP.
There is no OBC member in the State Socially and Educationally Backward Class Commission. What could be the motive behind such an unbalanced commission?. Population of OBCs is 30% and there is no representation of such a big chunk of population in the Commission made for their welfare. General/ upper castes have been included in OBC and ST list, which is unconstitutional and unlawful.
This indicates that Govt is working for vote bank and appeasement of upper castes.
BSP declares that even if Govt doesnot grant reservation to OBCs, in Panchayati Raj, ULBs and Assembly, BSP will ensure 50% of its seats for OBC candidates. If the Govt is really worried about OBC rights, it should grant seats in the Assembly and at least one Lok Sabha seat each for SC and OBC.
BSP is highly concerned about the above points and so we appeal General public to beware of the opportunistic approach of the BJP led LG Govt and vote and support for BSP.
