CU Jammu celebrates National Startup Day

The Central University of Jammu marked the foundation day of Startup India as National Startup Day with fervor and enthusiasm. The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at the Central University of Jammu (CUJ), in collaboration with CUJ SITE Council, a section 8 company established by the university to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the region, organized an idea pitching open house to commemorate this significant day.
A total of 22 teams comprising students and faculty from various streams within CUJ actively participated in front of a distinguished jury assembled by IIC, CU Jammu. The purpose was to evaluate the innovative ideas presented by these teams, fostering an environment of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit within the university.
In a proactive step to support the shortlisted teams, the university is providing patent filing support to protect their intellectual property. Additionally, teams expressing interest will have the opportunity to be incubated as startups at CUJ SITE COUNCIL, further encouraging the transformation of ideas into tangible business ventures.
The Institution Innovation Council of Central University of Jammu has been steadfastly working to motivate students and faculty to channel their efforts towards innovation, incubation, startups, and the pursuit of sustainability goals. This initiative not only enhances the academic experience but also plays a pivotal role in transforming students from job-seekers to employment generators.
Dr. Rakesh Jha, along with his team in the Innovation Council and the support of faculty in the Electronics department, facilitated the event, ensuring its success. The active involvement and encouragement from the university administration, led by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, added a significant boost to the event. Prof. Jain congratulated the entire team for orchestrating such a remarkable and impactful event.
The founder directors of CUJ SITE COUNCIL, namely Dr. Swarkar Sharma, Prof. Vinay Kumar, and Prof. Yashwant Singh, have played a crucial role in steering the initiative towards promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
The primary objective of this activity is to showcase the achievements and success stories of the nation through the startups and entrepreneurs associated with the institute. By doing so, the university aims to inspire and motivate more students and faculty members to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and contribute to the nation’s growing startup ecosystem.
On this auspicious occasion, heads of various schools and faculty members were present, highlighting the collaborative and inclusive approach adopted by the university to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among its academic community. The National Startup Day celebration at Central University of Jammu reflects the institution’s commitment to nurturing and promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among its students and faculty.
