Rich Harvest School today embraced the warmth of Lohri and the joy of Makar Sankranti with a vibrant celebration filled with traditional music, dance, and bonfires.
The festivities began with the lighting of a bonfire on January 12th, symbolizing the end of winter and the promise of brighter days ahead. Students enthusiastically sang Lohri folk songs and danced with abandon, bringing the school grounds alive with festive spirit.
A highlight of the celebration was the kite flying competition, where senior students took to the skies with colorful kites, their cheers erupting with every successful launch. The event fostered a sense of community and friendly competition among the students.
Honoring the traditions of Lohri and Makar Sankranti, Prasadam in the form of groundnuts and Revari was offered to Agni Devta (the fire god) and distributed to students and staff alike.
“This vibrant celebration not only allowed our students to connect with their cultural heritage but also fostered a sense of community and joy,” said Ruchi Charak, Director of Rich Harvest School. “We hope that the warmth of Lohri and the hope of Makar Sankranti bring peace and prosperity to everyone.”
Anita Bhatia, Head of the Institute, added, “As we bid farewell to winter and welcome the longer days, we celebrate the bounty of the harvest and the promise of new beginnings. This occasion reminds us of the importance of togetherness and sharing as we embark on a new year.”
