JAMMU, Jan 11
Advocate Purnima Sharma, Spokesperson BJP J&K and former Deputy Mayor, has lambasted the Congress party for its decision of not participating in Ram Mandir consecration ceremony. She said that the move is simply part of its appeasement policy towards a particular community to maintain its decimated vote bank.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Congress party communiqué said on Wednesday that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leaders including former president Sonia Gandhi and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury will not attend the Ram Temple consecration event to be held in Ayodhya on January 22.
In a statement issued to media here today, Purnima Sharma said that Congress continues to maintain its old rhetoric on the issue and the decision of this so called grand old party not to participate in the historical event is an insult to the people of India irrespective of the caste creed colour or religion to which they belong.
She asserted that Shri Ram is revered by one and all not only in India but even abroad as a symbol of ‘Maryada’ and the decision of the party not to attend the consecration should not surprise anyone as Congress has blatantly violated ‘Maryada’ prior to independence and thereafter during its about seven decade rule in India.
Specifically making reference to the reason forwarded by Congress high command that BJP and the RSS had made the temple its political project is nothing more than a lame excuse. She said that the fact remains that Congress leaders finding the party nearly decimated today is yet again trying to stick to its appeasement policy of keeping a few left out supporters in its Muslim vote bank in the party’s good books. However, it is not at all going to benefit this party or its leaders as people can see the ulterior motives behind every Congress initiative and decision today, she added.
