Dogra Law College, in its steadfast commitment to nurturing the upcoming generation of legal professionals, recently organized the grand Law Fest of 2023, named “Jashan E Aagaz.” The event showcased a diverse array of cultural activities and an impressive exhibition. The festivities commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. Anuttam Kalsotra, a student pursuing B.A.LL.B 5 years at Dogra Law College.
The inaugural moments included the soulful Saraswati Vandana and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by esteemed dignitaries, followed by the presentation of saplings to further emphasize the college’s commitment to environmental consciousness. Notable attendees included celebrity guests RJ Shwetima and RJ Chaitanya.
The event gained even more significance with the presence of distinguished personalities such as Sh. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister and Chairman of Dogra Educational Trust; Guest of Honour for the event Sh. Benam Tosh, SSP Samba and Senior Advocate Vikram Sharma, President of Bar Association J&K; Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary of Dogra Educational Trust; Dr. Avdhesh Pratap, Principal of Dogra Law College; and Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal of Dogra Degree College, Dr. Vikesh Sharma, Principal of Dogra College of Education and Ms. Gitika, Coordinator Dogra Educational Trust adding prestige to the vibrant festivities. The “Display Your Talent” segment, featuring dances, poem recitations, singing, mimicry, and a ramp walk, showcased the remarkable skills of students like Bhavya, Mehr-ul-Nisa, Tsechu Lamo, Yogita, Danish Tak, Anuttam, Jaiveer, Nahied, Lavanya, Muskan Kour, Zara, Vanshika and Isha, all from the B.A.LL.B 5Years program. A captivating group dance performance by Arjun and his group added to the entertainment.
Mr. Benam Tosh, the Guest of Honour, commended Dogra Law College for its consistent efforts in advancing legal education. Extending his blessings to the students, he emphasized the need for collective efforts to eradicate societal challenges and work together for the betterment of our community. Sr. Advocate Vikram Sharma, President of the Bar Association Jammu and the guest of honour, highlighted the crucial role of co-curricular activities in fostering the overall development of law students. He expressed that contests like these serve as a platform for budding lawyers to articulate their thoughts, emphasizing that effective expression is vital in the legal journey, contributing to their performance and growth. Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister and Chairman of Dogra Educational Trust, conveyed in his Presidential remarks that bidding farewell to 2023 should be approached with a positive mindset. He suggested taking a moment for introspection, contemplating how one can optimally utilize their time to become a better individual and make meaningful contributions to society.
The event concluded with the felicitation of outstanding students, recognizing their noteworthy achievements in Display your Talent contest. As a token of appreciation, the dignitaries were presented with mementoes and jointly inaugurated the accompanying exhibition, marking the successful culmination of “Jashan E Aagaz” and highlighting the vibrant spirit of Dogra Law College.
