Journalists from print, electronic and digital media under the banner of Crime Journalists Association (CJA), Jammu on Friday organised the ‘Shradhanjali Samaroh’ to remember and pay tributes to senior journalist Rajesh Vidyarthi, who passed away on December 12 in a tragic train accident in Haryana.
The programme was organised at Press Club of Jammu. Battery of journalists participated in the ‘Shradhanjali Samaroh’ and offered floral tributes to Vidyarthi.
Veteran Journalist Arun Joshi highlighted the working style of Rajesh Vidyarthi, who was known for investigative and crime journalism.
Joshi termed him a gentleman, well mannered and a master in the field of crime journalism.
Team Jammu Chairman, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, shared his closeness with Rajesh Vidyarthi during college days as a student leader of one of the organisations they had represented.
Meanwhile senior journalist Ajat Singh Jamwal, who had spent even and odd days with the journalist, expressed that he was the first who came to know about his death.
“He was not only a professional companion but a brother and a great friend. We had shared good and bad days in our initial days of journalism. He will always live alive in our memories,” said Jamwal with moist eyes.
Earlier, welcoming the gathering, CJA president, Govind Chouhan paid tributes to Rajesh Vidyarthi.
Chouhan also expressed gratitude to the journalists’ fraternity for turning up in large numbers to pay tributes to the departed soul.
He also briefed about the motive behind constituting the Crime Journalists Association (CJA), Jammu with a brief calendar of activities in future courses stating that the body will work for the welfare of the fraternity and strengthening bond between journalists, police, administration and other agencies.
The officer bearers and executive committee members of the CJA were also present on the occasion.
