The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad who is also Chairman District Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Friday convened a meeting here to take stock of the works being executed under JJM. The meeting also considered and approved Watapora-Qazipora-Laharwalpora Water Supply Scheme at a cost of Rs. 660 lac as a part of revised DAP for the district.
The meeting was informed that under the JJM program, 121 WS Schemes have been taken up for execution on mission mode in the district. It was further informed that the infrastructure consists of 38 Rapid Sand Filtration Plants, 22 Over Head Tanks, 18 Bore wells and 149 pipe network, Service Reservoirs and allied works. It was further given that out of total 47358 FHTCs, 38495 households stand connected till date comprising 81.22 percent of the total target. The chair was apprised that out of total 127555 total rural households, 70606 households shall be connected to supply tap water under various WSSs under JJM. Moreover, 16 WS schemes have so far been completed and are under different stages of testing and commissioning. Besides, other schemes are at various stages of completion and are expected to be completed before the closure of the current financial year 2023-24 subject to fair weather conditions. Presently 220 civil works and 84 Mechanical works are apace besides 13 borewells have been drilled and are being developed. The DC also took the detailed review of estimations, rate revisions, re-tendering, allotments for construction of filtration, plants OHTs reservoirs and laying of pipelines and other related works.
He emphasized that all JJM works be executed on a fast track basis and instructed the concerned to conduct IEC activities through sign boards, hoardings, public announcements and public interactions programmes in all areas. The meeting among others was attended by Vice Chairperson District Development Council Kowsar Shafeeq, ADDC Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Department, AEEs and other concerned.
