Station House Officer Akhnoor, Sh Zaheer Mushtaq flagged off a 5-day residential trekking expedition of boys and girls from Indoor Stadium, Akhnoor.
The camp has been organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Zone Akhnoor under the supervision of I/C Zonal Physical Education Officer, Akhnoor Sh Ashok Kumar on the direction of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu, Sh Sukhdev Raj Sharma in which 120 boys and girls of Under-17 and 19 years age groups drawn from different institutions of Zone Akhnoor are participating.
The camp is scheduled to commence from the 25th of December 2023, and will culminate on 29th of December 2023, at the holy city of Katra.
Speaking on the occasion, the ZPEO said such camps aim to encourage outdoor activities and foster a spirit of adventure among the youth.
The participants will engage in various activities, including guided treks, team-building exercises, and interactive sessions focusing on environmental awareness and sustainable practices. Manager Indoor Stadium, Akhnoor Sh Jugal Kishore highlighted that these camps intend to instill values of resilience, leadership, and camaraderie among the students.
Trekking gives an opportunity to feel the flora and fauna of nature, traverse rocks, navigate exposed roots, besides improving your physical and psychological health immensely, said SDPO, while interacting with the students before flagging off a five-day residential trekking camp at Akhnoor.
He advised the students to maintain team spirit, cooperation and coordination while participating in different activities on camp.
Prominent among the others were Smt Darshana Devi, Smt Rita Sharma, Sh Rinku Kumar, Sh Rahul Dev, Sh Vijay Tangra, Sh Rajesh Kumar, Smt Navneet Kour, Sh Vikram Jamwal and Sh Vivek Sharma.
