NSF tribute of 96th Death anniversary of Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaqulla Khan

National Secular Forum University Unit paid tributes to Saheed Ram Prasad Bismil and Saheed Ashfaqulla Khan on their 96th Death Anniversary at University Campus. Amid slogans “Ram Prasad Bismil Zindabad” “Saheed Ashfaqulla Khan Zindabad” “inqulaab Zindabad” ‘Bharat Mata ki jai” and garlanded the portraits of the son of soil.
Dr. Vikas Sharma Coordinator Jammu District Urban, and Zonal Secretary, JKNC was the Chief Guest and TR Sharma (Retd KAS) presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vikas Sharma threw light on the life and supreme sacrifices of Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaqulla Khan.
Dr Vikas Sharma appreciated the initiative taken by the NSF member to remember the death anniversary of Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaqulla Khan. Sharma said that the real tributes to the martyrs would be eradicating evils prevailing in the society like drug addiction, female foeticide and dowry. He exhorted the youth to refrain from drugs and intoxicants.
He also said that unemployment is all time high in the present scenario which is the root cause of depression and anxiety among the young generation following which it is becoming drug addicts. He said NC had always worked to provide more and more employment opportunities to the youth of the J&K.
He mentioned that during the Janab Omar Abdullah led NC government, jobs were provided to a large number of youth, RTI Act was enacted to eradicate corruption and several other revolutionary steps were taken to push J&K on the path of development.
Dr Sharma urged the youth to come together on a single platform to push for this demand. NC would leave no stone unturned to achieve statehood for J&K.
TR Sharma addressing on this occasion said that Many freedom fighters laid down their life for the sake of the independence of this country. One of the youngest people to walk to the gallows fighting for India’s independence was Ram Prasad Bismil.
Vikshay Vashist State Secretary NSF said that Ram Prasad Bismil was an Indian poet, writer, revolutionary and an Indian freedom fighter who participated in the Mainpuri Conspiracy of 1918, and the Kakori Conspiracy of 1925, and fought against British Raj. Bismil was hanged on 19 December 1927 by the British for his revolutionary activities.
Abhishek Uppal Jammu District Chairman NSF also addressed and said that Ashfaqulla Khan was put to death by hanging on 19 December, 1927, at Faizabad jail. This revolutionary man became a martyr and a legend among his people due to his love for the motherland, his clear thinking and loyalty.
Mohd Umar Farooq President University Unit delivered the welcome address, Vineet Gupta Chairman University Unit was delivering the vote of thanks.
Among those who spoke on the occasion included, Roshan Sharma, Arun Kumar, Aditya Kargotra and Aditya Khajuria.
