OBC Morcha of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir led by its President Sunil Prajapati celebrated the Modi government’s decision to introduce OBC reservation in J&K UT replacing Weak and under Privileged Classes (Social Caste)/OSC through J&K Reservation (Amendment) Bill 2023.
Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, J&K BJP General Secretary also joined the celebration to welcome the decision. Sunil Prajapati, BJP OBC Morcha President, Rashpal Verma, Morcha National Secretary, Munish Sharma, Prabhari BJP Yuva Morcha, Anju Dogra, BJP Secretary, Brahmjot Satti, Prabhari BJP OBC Morcha, J&K, Rajkumar Tarkhan and other senior OBC leaders participated in the celebration and exchanged greetings with each other.
The bill was recently passed by both the houses of Parliament, BJP OBC Morcha, JK UT celebrated the moment with joys and Happiness and distributed sweets amongst OBC members present on the occasion.
All OBC Members expressed great pleasure and celebrated the occasion with dancing on the beat of drums joyfully at BJP Office Trikuta Nagar and raised slogans in favour of BJP Union Government, shouting as Modi, Modi, Modi ! “Modi Govt Jinda Bad”, “Modi hai to Mumkin hai” ! since OBC in J&K have been considered for OBC reservation first time in the History. Earlier OBCs were provided only 2% reservation under OSC category by the earlier NC/Congress governments.
Extending gratitude to the Prime Minister, Home Minister for this Historical decision of implementing OBC reservation in J&K UT after continuous struggle of OBCs for over three decades, Sunil Prajapati said that the OBCs of J&K have now got a great relief by change in the nomenclature of reserve category to OBC. He said that all other benefits as applicable to OBCs at par with other States will also be available from now including Reservation in Elections of Municipalities and Panchayats. He further expressed that OBCs will now get the reservation as per population which may be in two digits instead of existing 4% under OSC category, which is a great relief for the OBCs and a wave of pleasure have run in both the reasons. He added that the approximate population of OBCs in J&K UT is around more that the combined population of SC and ST and the Govt may consider the appropriate percentage of reservation for OBCs after amendment of J&K Reservation Rules.
