Terming education as a key sector in transforming socio-economic profile of any society, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary today asked the people to pay focused attention towards quality education of their wards. The Deputy Commissioner said this while addressing a huge gathering at Block Diwas organised under Jan Abhiyan at Block Headquarter Gandhri today. Reiterating the commitment of LG administration to provide benefits of welfare and developmental schemes to the last person of the society, the Deputy Commissioner said that district administration has initiated a series of steps to implement the same in letter and spirit across the district. Encouraging locals to collectively work for the welfare and development of their area particularly in the education sector in coordination with administration, the Deputy Commissioner said that by acquiring quality education, a person can achieve the target he has set in life.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Public Darbar is Via-media through which the District Administration directly reaches the people at their doorsteps to get feedback about public delivery services from the locals. He also called for active participation of locals in Public Darbar to ensure their participation in planning and execution of developmental and welfare schemes in their respective areas. Calling for provision of road connectivity to all hamlets, Chairperson District Development Council, Dr. Shamshad Shan highlighted numerous issues of public interest including provision of ambulance for Gandhri Block, dental chair and dental assistant for PHC Bhatni, widening of Gandhri-Tanger road via Barnal, pernote-Thalwa-Batti road, Kabbbi-Khatter road, and early start of survey on Gypsum mining at Kanga.
Appreciating the District Administration for construction of Kanga –Gandhri-Bathni road under PMGSY, DDC Member Shamim Akhter, highlighted local issues including revisiting of power supply curtailment schedule, construction of interlink roads of Gandhri block, examination hall and chain wall fencing of Government Higher Secondary School , Gandhri, and opening of PHC at Kabbi.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner along with other dignitaries inspected stalls set up by the various departments to facilitate the people. The departments which set up stalls included Horticulture, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare, ICDS, Poshan Abhiyan, Agriculture, Election, DIC, Handicraft, Handloom, KVIB, and PM, Ayushman Card.
Earlier, Putting forth certain demands of public interest, the PRIs also raised some issues which include GI tagging of local Anardana on name of Kanga or Gandhri, simplification of formalities for construction of internal roads through forest areas, bring Gandhri block on tourism map and declaration of it as health resort, sanction of Gandhri -Ladhadar road, sanction of Badhola-Bhatni-Kothey road, upgradation of GHS, Tanger and provision of adequate staff, opening of Animal Husbandry Centre at Tanger, implementation of FRA Act, Construction of Bhatni- Raja Shankpal road, construction of building for Health Centre Duthan, deployment of adequate teaching staff at GHS Bhatni, development of playfield at Gandhri, and development of Bhatni as Model Panchayat.
The Health Department in collaboration with NHPC organized a Multi-specialty health camp in which Specialists from District Hospital Ramban and NHPC rendered their health services to locals by conducting on-the- spot testing and distributing free medicines. Meanwhile, an eye check-up camp was also conducted by the Block Medical Officer, Batote and ISM, AYUSH also distributed free medicines among the locals.
Various deputations and individuals also met with the Deputy Commissioner and projected their demands and issues for which the Deputy Commissioner issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned for their early redressal.
The renowned local artist and students presented a colourful cultural program which was highly applauded by the audiences. The students also presented theme based skits relating to SVEEP and Swachh Bharat.
Sensitizing the people about the beneficiaries oriented schemes launched by the department, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Dr Sushant Mahajan asked the youth to come forward and avail the benefits of schemes for their livelihood.
Dwelt in detail about HADP, the officers said that the aim of launching the program was to incline the youth toward agro-based business to create more job opportunities at their door steps.
