Three-day program enhances Micro-Teaching Skills & Lesson Planning in Jammu

Three- days Faculty Development Programme (FDP) and Student Capacity Enhancement Programme on “Micro Teaching Skills, Lesson Planning based on Herbartian and RCEM Approaches” was organized w.e.f. 4th to 6th of December, 2023, in the Conference Hall of Dogra Educational Complex, in collaboration with MoU signed institution (Govt. College of Education, Jammu) wherein , 42 teacher trainees & all the faculty members were present. The programme was organized by IQAC of Dogra College of Education. Asst. Prof. Sushma Bala, Govt. College of Education, Jammu, Constitutent College of Cluster University of Jammu was the resource person on the occasion. On the first day, the programme started with the inaugural session followed by lighting of the traditional lamp, the welcome address given by Dr. Shefali Sharma, IQAC Coordinator, Dogra College of Education. She gave a brief introduction about the FDP & resource person. She emphasized that this lecture would help the participants in clarifying their doubts while planning a lesson. She further said that the motive of conducting these types of lectures is to fosterer the professional development of the faculty and capacity enhancement of the teacher trainees. In the first session, the resource person talked about the micro teaching skills such as the Skill of Stimulus Variation, Questioning, Reinforcement, Demonstration etc and said that these skills play a vital role in the development of knowledge among the teachers and students. In the second & third day, the resource person explained the Herbartian and RCEM approach. She highlighted the different components of both the approaches and explained them with the help of the examples. She explained the Bloom’s Taxonomy and 17 mental abilities through power point presentation and explained the said approach with the help of a lesson plan. In the Valedictory Session, Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, DCE appreciated the viewpoints shared by the resource person and said that there should be proper use of these skills in the real classroom teaching and also emphasized that such kind of programmes provide us a very useful platform to exchange information, ideas and experiences. A formal vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Indu Puri, Sr. Lecturer, DCE, and the member IQAC who thanked the esteemed resource person for delivering an effective lecture on approaches and teaching skills. She also emphasized that these skills are very useful for practical professional training of the teacher trainees and teacher educators.
Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, DCE and Dr. Shefali Sharma, Coordinator, IQAC and the resource person distributed the certificates to all the participants. The Programme was compared by Ms. Arushi Sharma, Secretary, Student Council & Student member, IQAC.
