To commemorate World AIDS Day, Red Ribbon Club GDC Marh, in collaboration with J & K AIDS Control Society and under the aegis of Higher Education Department, organised a three day awareness programme on the college campus. U
Principal of the college Prof Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul was the chief guest.
In his address, while quoting shloka ‘AngamGalitam Asha Pindam Na Galitam’, the Principal emphasised on the need of satisfaction under all circumstances and simple habits to have a successful and blissful life which our mother nature supports and anything which we do against nature has serious repercussions like AIDS. He also highlighted the ill effects and stigma associated with this deadly disease.
On the First day, Poster making competition on the theme ‘Let Communities Lead’ was organised in which students made handmade posters related to the theme.
Second day was marked by an Interactive lecture and Rangoli making Competition. Prof. Imitaz Shahid (HOD Zoology) gave a detailed powerpoint presentation about the symptoms, mode of transmission and prevention of HIV AIDS.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of 65 students showcasing a collective commitment towards understanding and addressing the issues surrounding HIV/AIDS.
Prof Sachin Kumar Bhagat (NSS PO) presented the formal vote of thanks. The programme was assisted by Sem I student Abhay Singh Jamwal.
On concluding third day, Face painting and human chain as per logo of red ribbon, was formed by the students of 1st and 3rd semester viz Laksmi, Parul, Kashish, Navpreet, Varun, Ritika, Laxmi, Raveena kousar, Shruti Sharma, Palak saini, Khushi Choudhary, Pallavi Jagotra, Sanjana Devi in the college.
The Principal of the college appreciated the Red Ribbon Club of the college and highlighted the importance of initiatives taken by the college in creating awareness among the students.
The three day programme was organised by Prof. Anjana Chib (Convenor Red Ribbon Club) and coordinated by Dr.Shakun Sharma (Co-Convenor, Red Ribbon Club). Refreshments were served to students. Participating students were awarded with the certificate of Appreciation.
