PLS-J releases Punjabi short stories book of Surinder Neer

Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a literary function at K L Saigal Hall, Cultural Academy, Jammu today to release a Punjabi sort stories book titled ‘Taboo’, written by renowned Punjabi fiction writer & poetess of Jammu & Kashmir.
Padamshree Surjit Patar was the chief guest of the prograame. The function was pre sided over by renowned writer Amarjeet Grewal whereas Prof Baljit Kour, HoD Deptt. of Punjabi was the special guest on this occasioKey note address was presented by Dr. Manmohan Sahit Akademi Awardee. Main Speaker of the event was Sh Sukhjeet Sahitya Akademi Awardee.Papers on the quality and content of the released bookwere presented by Dr. J B Sekhon HoD PG Deptt. Punjabi Guru Gobind Singh College, Mahilpur Pumjab, and Dr. Parveen Sheron, Prof. at Punjabi Deptt.Punjab University, Chandigarh.
Sh Singh Manhas, Sectretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages extended the welcome address.
In his address he said that languages and culture of a community are the key factors responsible for their recognition as a social wing in the social set up. He complimented Surinder Neer for contributing literary work in this region of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
Smt. Surinder Neer expressed her views on the process of creating literary works particularly fiction.
It may be mentioned here that tSurinder Neer has written novels which acclaimed her fame and recognition across the entire Punjabi literary world. and Dr. Tejinder Singh Asstt. Prof. Gonindgarh College, KhararDiscussion: Swarnjit Savi, Renowned Poet & artist. Many scholars are doing Ph. D’s on her literary contributions in many Universities across the country.

All the speakers expressed their views on various aspects the writing of short stories in the releasedbook ‘Taboo’.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Baljit Singh Raina, President, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu. Vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Shahnawaz, Editor- cum- Cultural Officer, JKAACL.
