JAMMU, Dec 4
In a significant development for the residents of Sarwa Panchayat in Ramgarh Block, Samba District, the construction of a long-awaited Roadside to Shamshan Ghat project has finally begun.
Sarbjit Singh Johal, President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kisan Morcha Jammu & Kashmir and District Development Council (DDC) Member, laid the foundation stone for the project today.
The project has been a major demand of the people of the area for many years. The lack of a proper road leading to the Shamshan Ghat has caused immense inconvenience and hardship to residents during funerals and other last rites. The villagers had to navigate through muddy and uneven terrain, often carrying heavy loads, adding to the emotional distress of such occasions.
Recognizing the urgency of the matter, Sarbjit Singh Johal took the initiative to address this long-standing issue. He worked tirelessly with the concerned authorities and mobilized support from the local community to secure the necessary approvals and funding for the project. Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, Sarbjit Singh Johal expressed his satisfaction at the commencement of the project. He stated, “I am overwhelmed with joy to see this project finally taking off. I understand the difficulties faced by the people of this area for years, and it was my top priority to address this issue. I am confident that this road will not only provide much-needed convenience but also serve as a symbol of our commitment to the welfare of the rural community.” He said “The construction of the Roadside to Shamshan Ghat is expected to be completed within the next few months. The project will involve laying a paved path, installing proper drainage, and constructing retaining walls along the slopes. This will ensure a smooth and dignified passage for funeral processions and provide much-needed solace to the bereaved families.”
The local residents have expressed their gratitude to Sarbjit Singh Johal for their efforts in making this project a reality. They lauded his dedication to public service and his commitment to addressing the needs of the rural population.
