Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samba under the leadership of Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu and under the supervision of Prof. S.K. Gupta, Director Extension successfully organized a webcast of Viksit Bharat Yatra in the premises of KVK.
The VBY commenced on 26th Nov. 2023 in the district. More than 100 farmers and farm women from different blocks of the district participated in the programme. At the onset, Dr. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist & Head has joined the programme through online mode and welcomed the participants and apprised them about the activities of the KVK Samba. He elaborated upon the role of the Viksit Bharat Yatra to create awareness on different initiatives of the GOI.
He gave an insight into the importance of natural farming. Further, he emphasized upon the advantages of natural farming and soil health and their suitability in rainfed areas of the district. He apprised the farming community about the health benefits of these crops grown and their demand thereof. Today is the 5th day of the Yatra in the district. All the scientific staff of the KVK is enthusiastically participating in this yatra as per the directions received from ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana.
Different panchayats covered today include- Kehli Mandi, Abtal, Chani Fatwal, Palli, Kartholi lower, in which thousands of farmers participated. A team of scientists Dr. Neerja Sharma, Dr. Abhay K Sinha, Dr. Sourav Gupta, Dr. Vijay K Sharma delivered expert lectures on different topics like vegetable farming, farm mechanization, beekeeping, animal husbandry, soil health and natural farming.
Dr. Amit Mahajan, Dr. Shalini Khajuria, S. Tajinder Singh also participated in the Yatra.
