In a significant move towards urban development and inclusive growth, the Municipal Council Kupwara has undertaken shifting and rehabilitation of street vendors to approximately, 07 Kanal of State Land near Sumo stand Lolab.
Recognizing the vital role played by street vendors in the informal economy, this initiative aims to create a more organized and sustainable urban environment in the town. The initiative focuses on reducing congestion in crowded market roads by relocating street vendors to designated zones. This strategic move is geared towards creating a more efficient and harmonious cityscape with smooth traffic flow. The district administration is committed towards ensuring the livelihood security of street vendors. Adequate measures are being implemented to safeguard their economic interests and provide support for a smooth shift.
The relocation will offer development of infrastructure in the new designated vending zone, including amenities such as proper stalls, sanitation facilities, and waste management systems to enhance the working conditions of vendors in days to come. A robust public awareness campaign preceded to inform citizens about the rationale behind this initiative. The move has received huge support from the vast majority of people who believe that transformation will help bring positive impact on both vendors and the overall urban landscape.
