A community outreach programme was organized by Dogra College of Education in Village Bhatyari under the banner of NSS unit of the College to mark “World AIDS Day”. The programme started with the welcome address by Mrs. Sarika Kumari, Lecturer, Dogra College of Education. The chief guest on the occasion was Mrs. Archana Jamwal, Sarpanch, Viilage Bhatyari. Thereafter, Ms. Arushi Sharma, Secretary, Student Council and NSS Volunteer, DCE, delivered an awareness lecture on the theme, “Let’s Communities Lead”. She highlighted that “World AIDS Day” is more than celebration of achievement of communities, it is call to action to enable and support communities in their leadership role.
She further added that communities leadership role need to be made core in all HIV plans and programmes. In the concluding remarks. Dr. Pallavi CHO, Bhatyari Hospital appreciated the efforts of the NSS wing for organizing this community outreach programme. She said “let us recommit our-self to built a society free from HIV AIDS”. Thirty- Five NSS volunteers including Forty villagers were present on the occasion. In addition to that the volunteers raised awareness about AIDS through posters and charts. A formal vote of thanks was given by Mrs Amarjeet Kour, NSS Programme Officer, Dogra College of Education.
