Second day of National Level Intellectual Property (IP) Yatra Programme which is being organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) with the support of the Office of the Development Commissioner MSME, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India on 1st Dec 2023 at Regale Park, Jammu was graced by the presence of Shri G Velladurai, Joint Director & Head of Office MSME DFO, Jammu and Mr Vikram Sharma, President, Bar Association Jammu.
The technical sessions focused on enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights and consequences of IP infringement in India.IPR Help Desk for MSMEs was also organized for handholding MSMEs in regards to their queries for IP Rights .
In his welcome address Mr Rahul Sahai, Chair , PHDCCI Jammu Chapter emphasized that enforcement of IPR us important and it ensures that rights holders can take legal action against infringers, protecting their creations and innovations from unauthorized use.
G Velladurai, Joint Director &Head of Office MSME DFO, Jammu highlighted that J& K has huge potential to grow and industries should take advantage of MSME Schemes and our Ministry is there to support and handhold MSMEs.He further emphasized that entrepreneurs should have focussed and right approach to grow their business and innovate in their areas. Vikram Sharma , President, Bar Association, J&K congratulated PHDCCI for organizing this important event and in his address said that Fundamental shifts in technology and in the economic landscape are rapidly changing intellectual property rights AI may be new to the market, existing laws have significant implications for its use. There are infringement and rights of use issues, uncertainty about ownership of AI-generated works.
Kanchan Zutshi, Director PHDCCI highlighted Health and safety risks of using Counterfeit products which are often produced using substandard materials and poor manufacturing practices.This leads to health and safety risks for consumers and all of us should be attentive while purchasing goods should take a pledge of not using counterfeit products.
The session was addressed by Mr Siddharth Swain, Ms Sadaf and Mr Neeraj Bhardwaj legal experts from United &United IPR who explained in detail in regard to the enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights and their consequences.
