20th State Level Matsogi-do Competition concludes successfully

The vibrant city of Jammu witnessed the culmination of the 20th State Level Matsogi-do competition, held at the Bhagwati Nagar Sports Complex from November 28th to December 1st, 2023.
The event marked an exceptional display of martial arts skills, drawing participants, officials, and enthusiasts from across Jammu and Kashmir. A staggering total of 835 participants, representing 20 schools and 10 clubs from various districts, showcased their prowess in Matsogi-do, creating an atmosphere charged with competitive spirit and sportsmanship. The Chief Guest for the event, SSP Ramnish Gupta, congratulated all the participants and emphasized the importance of sports in keeping the youth away from drugs. He stated, “Sports not only promote physical fitness and mental well-being but also instill discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Engaging in sports can help steer young people away from harmful activities and guide them towards a healthier and more fulfilling life.” Tarnjeet Singh Tony, President of Matsogi-Do Association, Jammu and Kashmir, and senior Congress leader, presided over the functions and urged parents to encourage their children to participate in sports. He stressed the importance of sports in combating the negative effects of excessive gadget usage among younger generations. He stated, “In today’s digital age, it is crucial to encourage our children to engage in physical activities and embrace the benefits of sports. Sports not only enhance physical health but also promote mental well-being, social interaction, and overall personal growth.” Gurdeep Singh, National President of Matsogi-do Association, expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee, officials and participants for their contributions to the remarkable success of the 20th State Level Matsogi-do Competition. He lauded the participants’ dedication, sportsmanship, and passion for the sport, highlighting the event’s significance in promoting Matsogi-do across Jammu and Kashmir.
Singh also commended the Jammu and Kashmir Matsogi-do Association for its unwavering commitment to fostering the growth and development of Matsogi-do in the region, emphasizing the association’s role in nurturing young talent and preparing them for national and international competitions. Singh expressed his confidence in the potential of Jammu and Kashmir’s Matsogi-do athletes to excel at the upcoming National Matsogi-do Competition in Kurukshetra, Haryana, and wished them the best of luck in their endeavors.
The competition welcomed 50 officials who oversaw the proceedings, ensuring fair play and adherence to the highest standards of the sport. Among the distinguished guests were the Chairman of Unique International Public School and Principals from various schools, enhancing the event’s significance and fostering a sense of camaraderie.
The overall results for the tournament are as follows 1st: The Sri Ram Universal School; 2nd: Humanity Public School and 3rd: New Oriental High School
While Jammu bagged first position, Samba 2nd and Kathua bagged 3rd position respectively.
As the curtains draw on the state-level competition, the journey continues to the national stage. The National Matsogi-do Competition is scheduled to take place in Kurukshetra, Haryana, in December 2023. Participants from Jammu and Kashmir will carry the spirit of their state-level success to compete at the highest level, showcasing their skills on a broader stage.
