St. Joseph’s School celebrates 20th Annual Day

The students with their parents, staff and the management of St. Joseph’s Convent High School, Nagrota, Jammu on Tuesday celebrated the 20th year of its existence with fabulous, eye-catching, colourful cultural events.
The function was held in the presence of the Chief Guest, Rt. Rev. Ivan Albert Pereira, the Bishop and President of the Diocese of Jammu Srinagar Education Society, Col. Shajan Thomas, Deputy Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarter Jammu, Advocate Raman Wazir, the Sarpanch, School Manager-Rev. Fr. Jose John, Principal Rev. Sr. Vinaya, parents and other dignitaries.
The celebrations commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries followed by an inspiring prayer dance by the students.
The event was marked with the main theme “Unity in Diversity”.
“Indeed, Unity in Diversity is India’s strength. There is simplicity in every Indian and unity in every corner. Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and test of our civilization,” said Principal Rev. Sr. Vinaya.
The event included a series of thematic performances ranging from devotion to family values, patriotism, Unity in Diversity, social issues, in the form of dazzling dances, skits, and many more.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks followed by a colourful grant finale and National Anthem.
Chief Guest, Rt. Rev. Ivan Albert Pereira honored and appreciated the academic toppers with prizes. He also praised the excellent performance of the students on stage. He made a point to remind the parents about their role in the education of their wards. He told the audience the contribution of the Catholic Church in the field of education and social work, especially in the remote areas of the Union Territories of J&K and Leh Ladakh.
The Guests of Honour, Col. Shajan Thomas and Advocate Raman Wazir appreciated the students, staff and management.
They inspired the gathering with their message highlighting the importance of self-study, proper use of media (mobile), drug abuses and the need of parents’ accompaniment in the day-to-day lives of their wards.
The school Manager Rev. Fr. Jose John, formally welcomed the gathering and the school Principal, Rev. Sr. Vinaya Varghese, presented the report of this prestigious institution.
