JAMMU, Nov 27
Amit Kapoor, the Jammu Provincial Vice President of the Aam Aadmi Party, emphasized the necessity of providing reservations in both skilled and unskilled jobs for local youth within the industrial sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Kapoor expressed this stance while addressing party workers from various Jammu regions who had gathered to meet him at the party’s Janipur office.
During the interaction with party workers, Kapoor discussed numerous issues concerning development, employment, and other pertinent matters faced by individuals from diverse backgrounds. Party workers brought forth several concerns, to which Kapoor attentively listened and assured them of addressing these issues with the relevant authorities.
Highlighting the issue at hand, Kapoor pointed out the employment of non-local individuals within industrial areas, leading to local youths grappling with unemployment and alleged negligence by industrial unit managements. He underlined the Aam Aadmi Party’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of Jammu and Kashmir’s local population concerning job opportunities, natural resources, and land. Kapoor assured the workers that if the Aam Aadmi Party were to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir, it would strive to provide up to 80 percent reservation for locals in industrial sectors. Additionally, he criticized the violation of norms in involving local youth within the industrial sector and called for governmental action against those who breach these regulations.
In addition to employment concerns, Kapoor outlined the Aam Aadmi Party’s proposed initiatives, including providing free electricity to the state’s residents, similar to the policies implemented in Delhi and Punjab. He also pledged the party’s commitment to augmenting pensions for widows, disabled individuals, old age pensioners, and orphans from Rs 1000 to Rs 5000 per month. Furthermore, Kapoor promised an increase in financial assistance for marriage expenses of girls from economically weaker sections, raising the aid from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
Expressing concern over the delay in development and inadequate response from authorities towards citizens’ issues, Kapoor highlighted the growing sense of alienation among the people due to the absence of an elected government. He stressed the necessity of conducting assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir to restore people’s confidence and advocated strongly for local body elections as well.
