Interacts with Media persons; calls for factual, constructive reporting

RAMBAN, Nov 25
Deputy Commissioner, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary today convened an interactive meeting with the media fraternity of Ramban district. Deputy District Election Officer, Ramban Lal Chand, and journalists representing print and Electronic media participated in the meeting.
The media persons projected different issues they face while covering the events on the ground. Flagging-off their issues, they also put forth a demand for establishment of a Press Club in the Town.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the media is the important pillar of democracy and holds an important role in delivery of transparent and accountable governance to the people. While appreciating the role of media fraternity in highlighting the development of the district, the DC called for focusing on factual and constructive reporting. Terming media a bridge between public and administration, the DC stressed upon the media fraternity to reach out to the public and ensure that their issues are brought into the notice of the administration for redressal of the same. He asked them to take lead in their respective areas to highlight the local potential, saying that the district has great potential in tourism and local agro-based production which need to be promoted at national and international levels which will go a long way in generating more job opportunities for locals. Talking to the Media person, the DC informed that the winter classes would be started in various schools of the district, besides one coaching centre for NEET and JEE Mains would also be started in the district for the convenience of aspirants. The DC urged upon the media fraternity to work in coordination with District administration to sensitize the youth about ill-effects of drug abuse, besides encouraging them to contribute to the development of the Country. He said that the District administration is contemplating to organize a Youth Conclave in the district very soon on the theme ‘Development of Youth by the Youth’. It was informed that the Deputy Commissioner has dedicated Tuesday and Thursday to hear the public grievances from 11.30a.m to 2.30p.m every week.
