The campus of Dogra Degree College was filled with excitement and fierce competition as students showcased their athleticism in the recently concluded Annual Sports Meet 2023.
Principal Dr. Bela Thakur and Sports Convener Gulshan Sharma presided over the event, which featured intense contests in volleyball, the exhilarating 200m relay race, and the ultimate test of strength, Tug of War.
Volleyball Extravaganza: The volleyball court became a battleground of skill and strategy as teams from department of BA (Team B), BBA( Team A) and B.com (Team C) clashed in spirited matches. Team B (department of BA) won the final match. Principal Bela Thakur, impressed by the level of play, praised the players for their sportsmanship and teamwork. She emphasized the role of sports in instilling discipline and camaraderie among students.
200m Relay Race Showcase: The track witnessed lightning-fast sprints and breathtaking baton exchanges in the 200m relay race.
Gulshan Sharma, the Sports Convener, commended the sprinters for their speed and agility. He highlighted the importance of such track events in promoting a healthy lifestyle and fostering a competitive spirit among the youth. Taniya Rajput, Taniya Khajuria, Sukhpreet Kaur and Sunali of BA won the race in girls team and in boys team Vikas Sharma, Adityapal Singh, Gourav Sharma and Sahil of BA dept. won the race.
Tug of War Battle: The tug of war competition brought together teams with unwavering determination. BBA team won tug of war battle. Kanchan Dubey, IQAC Coordinator DDC, in her address, mentioned how this traditional sport symbolizes the strength of unity. Such events not only build physical strength but also strengthen the bonds of friendship and teamwork, she added. The winners of each category were awarded with medals and certificates, celebrating their dedication and hard work. Gulshan Sharma CTO /ANO cum PTI, DDC expressed his pride in the students’ achievements, stating, “Sports is an integral part of education, and witnessing our students excel in these events is truly gratifying” he also appreciated the spirit of the students and faculty members to orgainse such events which helps in the better channelization of the young energy of our students. He also motivated the students to participate in such sports event for their overall development.
Gulshan Sharma echoed her sentiments, saying, “The Annual Sports Meet serves as a platform for students to showcase their talents beyond the classrooms. It’s inspiring to see the passion and commitment they bring to the field.
The college administration extends its congratulations to all the participants and winners. Dogra Degree College remains committed to providing a holistic education that nurtures not only academic excellence but also the physical and emotional well-being of its students. The faculty members and the supporting staff who helped in the smooth conduct of the event were Swati Mahajan, Kanchan Dubey, Sonia Gupta, Rachana Devi, Ashish Sharma, Aman Sharma, Shikha Gupta, Palak Gupta, Simran Thakur, Kajal Sharma, Tina Sharma, Rahul Sharma & Ram Pal. The event was well conducted by Priyanka Sharma and her team Harsh, Sania, Akshita & Shubham. The whole event was well conducted under the able supervision of Gulshan Sharma, Vishal Singh & Ravinder Kumar.
