DM reviews initiatives to eradicate Drug Menace

District Magistrate Vishesh Mahajan today chaired a meeting to conduct a comprehensive review of initiatives taken to combat the menace of drug abuse in the District. The meeting, held in the mini secretariat Complex, assessed the actions taken by Law Enforcement Agencies and other stakeholders.
Notably, 58 panchayats in Reasi have been declared as Nasha Mukt Panchayats.
Mahajan issued directives to the Chief Education Officer and college principals, emphasizing regular monitoring of students to prevent their involvement in drug-related activities.
Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Tehsildars were instructed to identify local and non-local beggars within 15 days to ensure they are not engaged in drug-related activities. The Superintendent of Health was directed to maintain a comprehensive record of psychotropic drugs for public health and safety. Furthermore, Mahajan ordered the inspection of all medical and wine shops in the district, emphasizing the installation of CCTV systems to ensure a secure environment.
Highlighting the role of sports in promoting a healthy lifestyle, Mahajan stressed the importance of sports participation to keep students engaged in positive activities, reducing the risk of substance abuse. To further the cause, a “Nasha Mukt Walkthan” is scheduled for January 1st, aiming to promote a substance-free environment in Reasi through a collective walk.
