SDRF imparts rescue training to Volunteers at Assar

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), today imparted hands-on training to volunteers from Al Khair NGO in Assar. The insightful training session took place in a deep gorge near Jatthi on the banks of the Chenab River.
The initiative has been directed by Deputy Commissioner, S Harvinder Singh.
Under the supervision of Dy. SP Davinder Singh, Dy. Controller Civil Defence cum I/C SDRF Doda, 25 trainees from Al Khair (NGO) were instructed in the practical aspects of climbing, rappelling, and the intricate task of lifting bodies from deep gorges using the zip wire method when conventional methods fall short.
The training included comprehensive lessons on the tactics of climbing and rappelling, with a focus on utilizing the necessary equipment for these maneuvers. Special attention was given to the zip wire method, an innovative approach to extracting casualties from challenging terrains. The session not only equipped the volunteers with essential skills but also highlighted the significance of these techniques in scenarios where traditional methods prove insufficient.
In addition to the core training, emphasis was placed on accident care and road safety measures.
Recognizing the critical need for preventive measures in road safety, the participants were briefed on strategies to avert accidents and mitigate their impact.
The importance of prompt and effective responses to accidents, coupled with the significance of adhering to road safety guidelines, was underscored throughout the training. This holistic approach ensures that the volunteers are not only adept in rescue operations but are also well-versed in accident prevention and emergency response protocols.
