Dogra Group of Colleges Signs MoU with ‘Tarun Bharat Sangh’

Dogra Group of Colleges was delighted to host Dr Rajendra Singh, renowned environmentalist and water conservationist, who is also known as Waterman of India. He was invited as a guest speaker in Dogra Group of Colleges to enlighten the students, academicians and professionals of all the three Colleges i.e Dogra Law College, Dogra Degree College and Dogra College of Education regarding the River Rejuvenation and Water Conservation.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister and Chairman Dogra Educational Trust, Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, Kr. Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Member Trustee Dogra Educational Trust, Professor Avdhesh Pratap, Principal Dogra Law College, Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal Dogra Degree College, Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education, Ms. Anita Bhatia, Principal Rich Harvest School were also present on this special occasion.
At the outset of the inaugural ceremony Professor Avdhesh Pratap, Principal Dogra Law College cordially welcomed the esteemed guest and other dignitaries. He narrated the journey of Dr. Rajendra Singh since he founded Tarun Bharat Sangh in the year 1975 and under his leadership more than 1,200 villages across the country are now water secure.
The dignitaries paid tribute to Goddess Saraswati by lighting of ceremonial lamp and continued with the Water Anthem presented by the students of Rich Harvest School. This was followed by the mesmerizing Expert Lecture on water conservation by Dr Rajendra Singh.
He emphasized that water is the most precious component to ensure food and power security. At the very initiation of his lecture he said that our traditional Indian way of living had the inbuilt system where the community used to ensure effective management of water but as the modern era of development began, people started concentrating primarily on extraction of resources without considering the rejuvenation or replenishment of the same thus leading to the generation of problems, like flood, drought etc. He explained that water crisis is a global problem, but the solution is local. India is the only country in the entire world which has the inherent culture of respecting the water and following the principle of retreat, reuse and recycle water from ages,” he said.
The event was attended by a select gathering of students, academicians and professionals of all the three Colleges i.e. Dogra Law College, Dogra Degree College and Dogra College of Education. Students pursuing legal studies, teaching courses, management courses and students from Rich Harvest School participated with enthusiasm and outpoured their love and adoration for the worthy guest.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister and Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust, a philanthropist, a social worker and a teacher presided over the programme. In his address, he highlighted the importance of such Lectures for students. He congratulated and appreciated the tireless works of the esteemed guest in restoration and revitalisation of water reservoirs across the country.
He further said that, with the signing of MoU between Dogra Group of Colleges and NGO “Tarun Bharat Sangh. The MoU would facilitate a comprehensive partnership in the water literacy mission and problematic areas with joint efforts towards the conservation of water in Jammu and Kashmir.
The vote of thanks was rendered by Prachi Sharma, Member, Student Council, Dogra Law College and the programme ended with the National Anthem.
