IIL uplifts community well-being with new toilet complex at Government Degree College, Samba

Insecticides (India) Limited, through its CSR arm, IIL Foundation, has taken a significant step towards promoting sanitation and hygiene under their Project Vidhya, by inaugurating a new toilet complex at Government Degree College, in Samba, Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative aims to contribute to the well-being of students and highlights IIL Foundation’s commitment to societal development.
The ceremony was officially unveiled by Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal, Managing Director of Insecticides (India) Limited, in the presence of key dignitaries like Dr. Twinkle Suri, Principal, Government Degree College, Samba; and Mr. Jitender Aggarwal, Unit Head, IIL Samba; alongside students and college staff.
The newly constructed toilet complex comprises separate blocks for girls and boys, each equipped with modern amenities to ensure a clean and hygienic environment. The girls’ toilet block houses nine toilets, including a facility for the handicapped, while the boys’ toilet block features 13 toilets, including a provision for the handicapped.
Speaking about the project, Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal, Managing Director of Insecticides (India) Limited, said, “At IIL Foundation, our focus extends beyond agricultural endeavors to encompass holistic community development. We recognize the importance of sanitation and hygiene, particularly in educational institutions, and that promoting sanitary hygiene goes hand-in-hand with raising awareness. By setting real examples, such as constructing these toilet complexes, we aim to emphasize the importance of practical actions. The construction of these toilet blocks stands as evidence of our commitment to nurturing a healthier and more conducive environment for students to thrive.”
Principle at Govt. Degree College, Dr. Suri thanked IIL Foundation for extending such support for the college. She Mentioned “It is encouraging to see the companies like Insecticides (India) Limited coming forward and supporting the education institutes and well-being of students.”
Previously, the Foundation has successfully executed similar projects, exemplified by the construction of toilet blocks for girls and boys at Govt Senior Secondary School in Jodia Mev and Tapu Khera, Alwar district, Rajasthan. These efforts highlight the IIL Foundation’s steadfast dedication to supporting government schools and colleges, aligning with their overarching commitment to education, farmer awareness, and health.
