DDC spearheads initiatives to Enhance Cooperative Development & Entrepreneurship in Reasi district

A pivotal meeting of the District Cooperatives Development Committee (DCDC) was today chaired by District Development Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan to underscore initiatives to invigorate cooperative development and entrepreneurship.
The District Rural Cooperative Society (DRCS) outlined departmental efforts to fortify cooperative movement, prompting an extensive dialogue on the feasibility of the World’s Largest Grain Storage Project. Instructions were issued to the Revenue Department for identifying suitable land. NABARD’s role in providing a list of existing Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs) for targeting uncovered blocks through PACS was emphasized.
The committee tackled goals such as establishing multipurpose PACS in unreached Panchayats, implementing the PM Kisan Samridhi Kendra initiative via PACS, utilizing PACS as Common Service Centers, and establishing Jan Aushadi Kendras through PACS for rural access to generic medicines. Coordination between the NRLM and Cooperatives department was stressed for involving Self-Help Group (SHG) members in new M-PACS/dairy/fishery Cooperatives.
Special focus was directed towards forming Wool Producers Cooperatives to provide market opportunities. Agricultural and Allied sectors were urged to identify products for registration under National Cooperative Organic Society, National Cooperative Export Society, and Bhartiya Beej Sehkari Samiti. The committee also discussed training programs on Milk Processing, food processing, and value addition of existing Agricultural/Allied Produce.
The DC was briefed on on-boarding Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) as Common Service Centers (CSCs), with directives to ensure inter-departmental collaboration to meet set targets.
In a subsequent District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) meeting, chaired by DDC Vishesh Mahajan, the progress of the MUMKIN scheme was evaluated. Assistant Director of Employment, Rekha Bali, elucidated the scheme’s guidelines. After meticulous review, the DDC approved 34 new cases under MUMKIN, showcasing the district’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship. Emphasizing efficiency, he instructed verification of pending cases and prompt forwarding of newly approved cases to banks.
The meeting boasted attendance from key officials in various departments, affirming a collaborative approach towards enhancing cooperative development and economic opportunities in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Reasi, Jyoti Slathia, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Anshumali Sharma, General Manager DIC, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Reasi, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Medical Officer Reasi, DPM NRLM, Assistant Director Employment, Assistant Director CAPD and representatives from Sheep Husbandry, Tourism, DCCB, NABARD and Fisheries Departments.
