In continuation to his efforts to make better understanding of issues being faced by the locals of Doda town, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harvinder Singh today held an interactive session with the elected members of Municipal Council Doda here in the DC office.
During the interaction, the members highlighted major issues of the town, which include Stray Animals in the market, Beautification of city, tile work on footpath from Clock Tower to Old Bus Stand Doda, early tendering of drainage work by PWD, identification of land for slaughter House, traffic congestion in the town, Allotment of funds under untied and other heads for MC Doda etc.
The DC sought suggestions from the council to overcome these issues, besides taking stock of the implementation of PMAY-U scheme and status of works approved under district capex and other heads/ schemes.
EO MC Doda was directed to start picking stray animals and initiate disciplinary action against the owners. He asked EO MC not to give Town Hall and Community Hall to anyone without taking/ charging approved rent. DC has instructed SE PWD Doda to allot the drainage work in the town immediately and propose beautification work in the town to give aesthetics to the Doda Municipal area. Other instructions like removal of encroachments, regular maintenance of internal roads and drainage have been issued to the concerned authorities. DC sought greater coordination and cooperation from the members of MC Doda so that the genuine issues causing inconvenience to the locals shall be resolved with utmost sincerity and dedication. He also sought synchronised efforts in fighting against drug menace and other social issues to keep the district drugs free and peaceful.
Among others present during the meeting were President MC Doda Ved Prakash Gupta, ADC Doda Dr R K Bharti, CPO Doda Suresh Kumar, Vice President MC Doda Mazhar Ul Haq Munshi, Ex En PWD, besides other Councillors were also present.
