Indian Hawks Roller Skating Club (IHRSC) has been able to maintain supremacy in the speed skating arena in J&K by clinching 136 medals so far in 2023.
Showing dexterity in the game and extreme level of sportsman spirit, the Indian Hawks skaters have achieved a special feat by ensuring lion’s share in acquiring medals and getting opportunity to represent J&K at national level in various tournaments including 62nd nationals to be held in Chennai later this year, CBSE nationals in Gurugram and KV national championship. It is likely that the ace skaters of the club will also shine in the upcoming tournaments at nationals although skater Achintiya has already bagged two silver medals in 52nd KV national 2023 held recently at Hyderabad in Telangana. Besides, eight skaters of IHRSC have been declared J&K UT champions for the year 2023 namely Ahana, Tabish, Adwait, Tamanna, Prageet, Udhay, Samarjot and Sanvi after their brilliant spells in the ongoing UT Championship. The gaming skills showcased by these skaters at the UT championship had to be seen to be believed as they simply outclassed their opponents in the rink as well as at the road races. With the stellar performances, 14 skaters have also been selected for the 62nd national tourney scheduled to be held in Chennai in December 2023. Those selected for the national tourney include Ahana, Tabish, Adwait, Sanvi, Tamanna, Prageet, Udhay, Achintya, Puneesh, Samarjot, Rudra, Kartikeya, Vanshaj, and Abhinav Anand. Chairman of the Club Ashok Gandotra Chief Engineer (Retd) has been steering things with ultimate proficiency to oversee activities as his vast experience and seasoned personality is considered by the members as a special asset. Going by the outstanding results of the IHRSC in the past, all eyes are on the outcome of upcoming nationals as far as Indian Hawks are concerned. Skaters of IHRSC who clinched hard earned medals at recently concluded UT championship include Ahana (3 golds), Tabish (3 golds), Adwait (3 golds), Sanvi (3 golds), Adhira (3 silvers), Pearl (2 bronze), Puneesh ( 2 bronze, 1 gold, 1 silver), Prageet (2 gold 1 silver), Udhay (3 gold 1 silver), Achintiya (4 bronze), Rudra (2 bronze), Kartikeya (1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze), Samarjot (2 gold 2 silver), Vanshaj (1 gold, 1 silver) and Abhinav Anand (1 gold, 1 silver).
