The Foundation Day of Jharkhand was celebrated at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat with full fervour in the presence of Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Shri Tashi Gyalson and Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal.
Wishing the people of Jharkhand on the Foundation Day of their state on behalf of the citizens of Ladakh, Shri Gyalson stated that he got the opportunity to know the state from a close range due to the launch of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra from Khunti, Jharkhand, which is the birthplace of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, on the occasion of the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.
He termed the occasion of the launch of such a big programme from Jharkhand by the Hon’ble Prime Minister a moment of pride for the people of the state.
He acknowledged the contributions of the people of Jharkhand to the country’s fight against British colonial rule and also for the conservation of its rich tribal culture.
Shri Gyalson apprised the personnel from Jharkhand serving in Ladakh about the region’s connection with their state as a lot of students are pursuing medical courses in Jharkhand.
He asked personnel from Jharkhand serving in Ladakh to come and meet him with their grievances so that necessary actions could be taken to address their issues.
Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal appreciated the visionary Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative taken by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to inculcate a sense of unity and oneness among the people of different states of India and the celebration of Foundation Day of states/UTs in all Raj Bhawans/Raj Niwas.
He stated that it is the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s initiative that the people of Ladakh are getting the opportunity to learn about Jharkhand state from the personnel of the state serving in Ladakh. He also acknowledged the contribution of construction workers/labourers from Jharkhand in the developmental activities of Ladakh.
The message from the Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand, Shri CP Radhakrishnan, was also played on the occasion in which he paid tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary and acknowledged the contributions of the people of Jharkhand in preserving its rich tribal culture and identity.
Personnel from Jharkhand serving in Ladakh, including Shri Mukesh Kumar from Project Himank, Shri Manoj Kumar, Shri Hansraj and Shri Mangal Das from the Army and Shri Deepak from ITBP spoke on the occasion and expressed gratitude to the UT Administration for organising the Foundation Day of Jharkhand.
Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, informed about the celebration of Foundation Day of various states and UTs at the LG Secretariat under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme. He informed that Jharkhand became the 28th state of India on 15th November 2000 after the Chhotanagpur area was segregated from the southern half of Bihar to become a new Indian state. He also informed about the rich mineral resources and biodiversity of the state.
Secretary, Shri Amit Sharma, IAS; DIG Ladakh Police, Shri Sheikh Junaid; SSP Leh, Smt PD Nitya; government officials and personnel from Jharkhand serving in Ladakh were present during the Jharkhand Foundation Day celebrations.
